Law school is awful when you're working 45 hours a week. However, I have a wonderful boyfriend (eeeeee!!!! yes i'm excited SO WHAT) and I may be able to move back to Michigan and go to school full time, without having to work, for A LOT less money, and I really want to.

Florida vacation [Sep. 14th, 2009|01:17 pm]

I haven't written in here in a long time, so I thought I'd update on the stuff I've been up to.

I went to Florida over Labor Day, which was pretty fun. My friend Susan, who lives in Milwaukee now came with me. Last minute we convinced Luke to come too, which was pretty funny because he doesn't know Susan at all really, but it was fine, Luke is a good sport about those things.

We all came from different states and flew in at different times, so before I left Chicago ashley and I had some people over and left at like 3am to get to the airport, got really lost, but ended up getting there on time somehow. I made it to Florida first and waited around for awhile while it rained and then susan met me at the rental car place. Turns out, none of us are 25 yet, so that means everyone is getting screwed. We went to the cheapest rental car place available E-Z Rental or something. Got a car, which starts with a button (stupid nissans) and really confused me. You can tell I was confused because the first thing I did was back the car right into a cement barrier and break the back tail light casing. GREAT JOB, JEN. Before we're even out of the parking lot.

Anyway, he headed to the hotel and got sushi (turns out, I can almost eat sushi like a normal person now) and I was really excited about this. We had maybe one more drink then we should have considering we had to go get Luke at the airport. Luckily, there was lightning, so he was stuck on his plane waiting to get out. So far the vacation isn't going that well.

But we get Luke, go to some Mexican place and then drop like 90 bucks on booze, making up for just about anything that could possible go wrong on the trip. I think we just drank that night, but honestly, I don't remember. I know the second night though we maybe went to the beach? wait.. i have no idea. Dewar's has clouded my memory. Well -- at SOME POINT we went to the roller rink. Yep. Yes we did. And it was fun, and we are all pretty good skaters, turns out. Except me, who was too drunk to skate correctly and fell at least three times. They also had this weird "speed skating team" which really meant that they bobbed up and down to hip hop music on the rink by themselves.

After that comes Zoo bar, the coolest place in Fort Lauderdale if you ask me. This place is a divey little rockabilly bar, nestled right next to the skating rink. There was a band who played the Possum Song, which you would just have to hear... and then there was Diablo Dimes, one man show extraordinaire. Seriously, look him up. He's soooo good.

Again, don't remember what we did after that night, probably more drinking, maybe cigars at this point? Most likely a lot of sitting on the balcony being awesome.

I think it was around this point in the trip that we went to the beach? There was a bar near there called Elbo Room where a guy was doing karaoke to White Wedding and that was my favorite part of the beach. And $10 mimosas that were very necessary.

I think we went to Miami Beach after that... we ate more sushi, and everyone thought I wouldn't be fun that night for some reason, but I was -- you guys are dumb. Luke was a baller and just kind of made a call and got us a sweet hotel room in Miami which was very cool of him. Then we went to... I have no idea. Maybe an irish bar? Susan and I were going drink for drink at this point and I was losing very badly. Then we were looking for a more local bar... something not touristy. Oh boy, we found it. We went to "the bar" or whatever teh cabby was telling us it was. It was a brewery or something. Basically it was the best. Susan made friends with Eddie, and we also met Eddies friend as well. Eddie is awesome. Eddie loves people from the Midwest. He recommended GREAT Cuban food for the next day.

Then the next day we ate said cuban feast. Brilliant. And headed back to Fort Lauderdale to chill by the pool for awhile. I feel like I'm missing a million things because I cannot put them in order. HeartRock Japanese Restaurant and Italian food are in there somewhere, alot of other things as well. Too much drinking to remember but it was pretty fun.

Since then it's just been school school school... ugh. Oh well, it is what it is.
